Some events offer an alternative to playing a character. They often need people to attend purely to play the roles of non-player characters (NPCs) throughout the event and this is often referred to as “crewing”. Crew might be expected to dress as short lived orcs that attack the player camp or as a wandering trader.
Crewing can be a very rewarding experience where you get to enjoy a variety of roleplay and meet lots of new friends too. It can be relentless at times but it’s a great way to learn more about the game. Some events offer perks to those crewing such as free entry or free food/drink.
