This is usually down to who the event organisers want to play their game. Checking with them or their website should tell you who their game is designed for and who isn’t suitable. For instance, a lot of LARPs only allow participants of 18 years and over but there are still plenty that allow younger people or families to attend too.
Most events require you pre-book your spot or just turn up on the day but there are a small few that are by invitation only. Always check the event’s website and if you are still confused, get in touch with the organiser. They are generally very friendly and will be glad to answer questions and get you involved.
